Summer Internship: Analyst
Job Description:
Xypress LLC offers exciting opportunities for a Data Analyst to be engaged in global challenges in the information services and financial services industries, and to contribute to a growing company. As a Data Analyst, you are responsible for conducting both the research and the analysis related to a project, and are typically assigned to one or two project teams simultaneously. Our consultants come from a variety of backgrounds, but all are keen business analysts, excellent communicators, and eventually develop to be subject-matter experts. This position is for a summer internship, with the possibility of a transition to a full-time position upon completion of the internship.
The key expectations for this role include:
- Designing analyses using spreadsheets, database tools, statistical analysis and process mapping in order to meet project goals.
- Conducting analyses utilizing assumption testing and sensitivity analysis.
- Gathering research by conducting interviews, searching literature or the Internet and interpreting survey results.
- Summarizing research findings.
- Authoring client presentations and other deliverables.
- Review results for accuracy and relevance.
- Presenting findings to clients and to senior consulting staff.
Skills (Minimum Requirements):
Qualified candidates must possess:- A Bachelor’s degree within a discipline requiring a strong analytical aptitude such as economics or engineering.
- Outstanding analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Some experience in the consulting, financial services or information services industry is preferred.
- Outstanding proficiency within Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with analytical modeling, statistical analysis, optimization, and/or manipulation of large datasets.
- Familiarity with SQL or statistical packages such as SAS is preferred.
- A professional demeanor.
- Willingness to travel for certain projects, when required.

Summer Internship: Software Developer
Job Description:
Xypress LLC offers exciting opportunities for Software Developers to be engaged in global challenges in the information services and financial services industries, and to contribute to a growing company. We are building applications in the exciting new world of Big Data, Analytics and Algorithms! As a Summer Intern-Software Developer, you are responsible for designing, developing and testing software for algorithms and analytics. You will also be working with clients as well as other team members, and are typically assigned to one or two project teams simultaneously. Our software developers come from a variety of backgrounds, but all are strong analytical thinkers and have a curiosity and passion about developing great software. They are also excellent communicators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and developing algorithms.
- Designing and developing software for analytics.
- Reviewing customer requirements documents and writing technical requirements documents.
- Designing and developing software that meet those requirements.
- Developing test plans and executing them.
- Authoring client presentations and other deliverables.
- Working with local and remote team members to complete project assignments.
- Presenting findings to clients and to senior consulting staff.
Skills (Minimum Requirements):
Qualified candidates must possess:- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with a high GPA (minimum 3.5).
- Excellent proficiency with at least 2 major programming languages such C, C++, Java, Python.
- Familiarity with web programming languages such as HTML 5, Javascript or PHP.
- Understanding of key software design concepts as well as object-oriented design concepts.
- Understanding of relational databases and familiarity with SQL
- Outstanding analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication skills--both written and verbal.
- Some proficiency within Excel and PowerPoint.
- A strong work ethic and a professional demeanor.
